Rafael Nadal looks concerned as he tumbles out of the French Open
Nadal is struggling with a knee injury but will travel to London on 16 June

World number one Rafael Nadal is hoping to play at an exhibition tournament in London on Friday to test his fitness ahead of Wimbledon.

The Spaniard pulled out of Queen's with knee trouble and has been undergoing intense rehabilitation in a bid to be fit to defend his Wimbledon title.

The 22-year-old said his recovery is "going well" and he hopes to play at the Hurlingham Club event.

"It would be a good test for me to see how the knee is doing," he added.

Nadal has been suffering ongoing problems with both knees and after his shock fourth-round defeat at the French Open, he travelled to Barcelona to undergo tests.

He was diagnosed with tendonitis in both quadricep tendons as well as a small amount of fluid on the kneecaps.

The Spaniard, who beat great rival Roger Federer in a classic final in 2008, promised to give "200%" in his efforts to be fit for this year's Wimbledon, which begins on Monday 22 June.

But he added: "I will not go out and play on any court, let alone Centre Court at Wimbledon, if I am not 100%."

Nadal is scheduled to arrive in London on Tuesday.
